Cotton Rag Rugs

Hundreds of years ago, Scandinavian weavers made rag rugs from old clothing. Early immigrants brought these techniques to the United States. Today I use the same techniques with recycled cloth... everything from old bedspreads to well-loved and well-worn blue jeans...to make beautiful and durable rag rugs. These materials, which would otherwise be discarded, are transformed into functional art pieces suitable for any room in your home.

Washable Wool Rugs

Inspired by the wonderful quality and texture of high-end wool blankets, these rugs are hand-woven on a Swedish loom from the selvages (unused edges) of the same wool used by a noted Northwest manufacturer for their blankets, jackets and clothing. The new strips of wool are "recycled" into deep pile rugs of exceptional softness and beauty. A joy to walk on, especially with bare feet, they add luxury to a bathroom, hallway, living room or dining area.

These rugs are also available in a variety of colors, from jewel tones to earth colors to lighter hues. All can be machine washed and become softer with time. View some more of my wool rugs.

Cotton Yarn Rugs

Creamy white cotton rugs will enhance any area of the home. Machine washable and absorbent, they are an excellent choice for the kitchen, sauna, bath and bedside. Cotton's softness makes these rugs perfect for the bathroom. Some people wouldn't have any other kind of bath mat under their feet.

Cotton yarn rugs are available both in solid white and white with accent stripes. A variety of colors are available.
